January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. Several ski resorts in the Pocono Mountains will join in the nationwide effort to get people outside and to enjoy snow sports this season.
“The Pocono Mountains has seven major ski resorts with over 1,000 instructors with a range of expertise for all ages and abilities,” explains David West, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau vice president of sales and marketing. “That is an excellent student to teacher ratio. Each ski area has family-friendly facilities and trails ranging from beginner to expert ensuring everyone in the family a chance to learn and build confidence as a skier and snowboarder.”
The Pocono Mountains boasts seven ski areas, with more than 185 trails, including terrain parks. The trail breakdown is 35% Beginner/Novice, 32% Intermediate and 33% Expert, making the region ideal for every skill level.
Pocono Mountains ski areas have been perfecting snow-making since its beginning 60 years ago allowing skiers and riders to learn and take pleasure in snow sports even without the cooperation of Mother Nature. Whether the snow is natural or man-made, the conditions are always right for learning.
